America is Dead: The Photographs of Tag Christof

Tag Christof, the photographer behind "America is Dead" gets a lot of heat for his Instagram handle. No, he's not unpatriotic nor does he think America is actually "dead." The point of the series, which started out with a shitty digital camera and enough money for gas and diner food, has more to do with the places we no longer see in modern day U.S. He spends most of his time in the car, road tripping across the United States to capture the abandoned malls, parking lots, old buildings, and (if he spots them) old school Monte Carlo's. Christof's photos seem to capture an odd sense of isolation with a hint of a dream reality from a time when America was growing rapidly. You can follow more of Tag's work on his Instagram and Tumblr.
